PatSearchFullText（PSFT)のヨーロッパ特許庁公開（EP-A）の明細書のテキストによる全文検索が1978年以降すべて可能になりました。
これまでは、EP-Aの全文検索は1988年以降しか利用できなかったのですが、2003年の３月から、1978年〜1987年までの全文テキストが利用可能になりました。
ＥＰの全文検索の可能なデータベースはいくつかありますが、1987年以前のＥＰ明細書の全文検索できるデータベースは、Micro Patent/PatentWebだけです。これは公知例調査用データベースとしては非常に重要なメリットといえます。
（なお、ＷＯ／ＰＣＴの明細書テキストデータもMicro Patent/PatentWebのみデータを持っています。）
今回のデータ作成はＯＣＲを使ったそうですから、ある程度の間違いはあるものと思われます。とはいえ、元になった印刷物の印刷の品質が、ＵＳＰの古い部分のＯＣＲ入力に比べると格段にいいでしょうからあまり問題ないかもしれません。
まず、収録件数を実際に検索して確かめてみました。（IBMはinternational business machinesで検索しました。）

最下行に「Patents Citing This One」とあるのは、この特許を審査で引用している特許（逆言い方をすれば、この特許が審査で引用されている特許、つまり被引用）を示しています。

第３号は英語で書かれており、代表図面も収録されています。
また、このように代表図面の収録はかなり良いようです。約15件見たうち、特許明細書には図面があるのに収録されていないのは３件だけでした。

ＯＣＲのミス入力の状況を調べてみました。
１．1978年登録中、Specificationは１４件ありますが、Spedficationは０件です。
USPの1836年ではこのような間違いもありましたが、ＥＰの1978年などは印刷がしっかりしているためか、間違いないようです。
２．1979年の特許を対象に、closingという綴りで検索すると326件あります。ＯＣＲ読み取り時に、clをdと間違って認識しているかもしれないと考えて、dosingを探してみます。同年特許でdosingは45件ありました。そのうちの一件，EP0005965を見てみると下記のように使われています。
※doseというのは（薬などの）１回分という名詞だけでなく「添加香味料を混ぜる、投薬する」という動詞もあります。
下記を見ると意味的に考えて、多分間違いではないように思われます。
この特許のイメージ形式を見てみると、確かにdosingとなっておりclosingの読み間違いではありません。
その他の特許も以下のように化学・薬品に関するものが多いので、たぶんdosingと書かれていたものであり、認識のミスではなさそうです。
以上のように、あまり読み取りミスはないようであり、十分実用になるものと思われます。
